My Velouria

It’s not the most original of ideas, but it made me chuckle: Velour sweatpants for girls with the words “Wide Load” across the ass. Of course they’d only be available two sizes too small for anyone that wanted to wear them.

Welcome, You’ve got Mail!

In leui of a semi-aggressive ad campaign and rave reviews from a coworker for Fallout 3, I decided to see what all the fuss is about. I figured I’d start by obtaining a copy of the original from 1997, having somehow been oblivious to the entire series. I obtained a copy and started playing a few nights ago. A few hours in and having obtaining my trusty sidekick Dogmeat, I went searching the web for some faq’s and walkthroughs. To my suprise I found a faq/walkthrough from 97. I found it funny that the faq gave a list of newsgroups it could be found on.

“Newsgroups: comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.rpg,comp.sys.mac.games.adventure”

Newsgroups? Oh geez I remember those. Boy I miss the cruisin the old BBS’ on dialup , paying by the minute for a 2400 baud connection that involved calling the next town over, which was long distance… And your parents didn’t have long distance and you only had one phone line, but it didn’t matter because you really really really wanted a copy of Adobe Photoshop 4 . So, you went against your parents’ wishes to leave the computer on over night and prayed you didn’t get disconnected. Oh wait… I don’t miss that. Luckily my family adopted the whole internet fad early and we had a cable modem in ‘98.

A friend sent me a link to a parody video on a site I hadn’t been to in over a half a decade: collegehumor.com. To the college male it’s was, and probably still is the equivalent of Maxim magazine in digital form.

After getting a few chuckles from video I was sent, I proceeded to see what else the site had to offer (if anything). I found this mildly amusing even though I’ve only half watched an episode of 24 while at TC’s Lounge on a date a few years back on a Monday. I know that girl from Mr Show who makes piggy faces a lot is in it and Donald’s son. Regardless, it makes sense to post this since I was on the topic of computing in the 90’s. If you lived through the horrors of bleeding edge technology in the 90’s you’ll understand.

It’s nice that things just kinda work these days. I’m gonna go watch the movie Hackers and then dig up some episodes of The Screen Savers with Kate Botello on bitorrent.

I apologize that work consumed me. I promise I’m making great strides to get back to being the self I enjoyed being around that didn’t work 24/7. I smile from time to time now. I deem that progress.

With the birth of more efficient channels (tubes) to the internets I plan on getting back into the whole online scene sooner than later… after I sleep.
