..is being able to supply a screensaver with an rss feed. I was all set to go search the net for a way to do said thing only to find it integrated into OS X. What a lovely surprise.
Now I can stream new images from icanhascheezburger.com right onto my TV when it’s not in use.
How did I live with out it for so long?
I just downloaded the latest build of Songbird on my Ubuntu box. I like the look (iTunes’ evil step brother). I tried it out a year ago, but found it to be a bit too buggy for my liking. Right now it’s trying to compile my collection of over 18000 songs. I’m curious to see how it handles. Once it’s done I’m gonna take it for a spin. If I like it, I may just retire iTunes altogether on the macs in the apartment assuming I can find a decent way to steam music to the airports.
You can buy me something for the holidays.

I’m back in Massachusetts after a long overdue vacation. I came home Friday to a few inches of leftover snow from the monstrous storm earlier in the week. I was told horror stories from friends saying that their commutes turned into all day adventures. Boston to Providence: 11 hours. Framingham to Cambridge: 5 hours. Yuck. To make matters worse we had a nice little squall today adding a few inches of slushy icy snow. I broke two shovels trying to clear my parents drive way. It’s great to be home.
After making amends with the weather, I sat down and played with hulu.com. I haven’t spent enough time with it to formulate a solid opinion, but my initial reaction equates to a shoulder shrug.
They have a decent amount of titles consisting of current and canceled show, and some movies. Cool.
The embed option and rss subscrption to individual shows is a nice touch. Rad.
There are commercials. I can deal.
The movies provided are not in letterbox. WTF?
Even sillier, the content is edited. Suck.
Take Steve Martin’s The Jerk for example. What was the name of his dog again? I don’t remember it being “Stupid”.
When will studios understand? If you continue to give the internet masses crappy content (or in this case, good content packaged poorly) they will continue to steal. Give them well packaged, enjoyable content that is readily available and they will pay for it. It’s sad that I can get better quality content off of bit torrent that was ripped and encoded by some dude in Sweden then straight from the studios themselves. Just for that I give my hulu test drive an F. Regardless, I’m gonna spend some more time with it before abandoning it all together.
