Yah I haven’t been updating this like I should be… My attention has been focused to another site that I have been working on for the past week. According to the TOS of ReadySetConnect (my hosting plan for this site) I can not link to or provide content from my “project”. It’s a shame, I was willing to plop down a good deal of money to ReadySetConnect for more hosting service. I have been very happy with their services over the past few years, however they don’t deal with…
Let’s just say I was feeling like all the knowledge I have about the web, marketing, selling, and computers in general was going to waste. I don’t have a degree: so I can’t get most IT jobs that I am probably overqualified for and I don’t have enough money to go back to college to get one. Loans are an option, but I can’t handle the stress they bring. I have devised a way to make some money with all this useless knowledge.
If you wish to know what I am doing just ask me. Ohh and don’t think I’ll reveal it on this blog. After this post there will be little to no posts about it.
In about a week I’m sure I’ll get back to posting more on this site. I’ve just been knee deep in code, but I’m almost done.
In other news: Harris is buying a van and going to Canada next week. I am going to Baltimore tomorrow to pick up my drums from Waking Ashland. Since it’s an 8 hour drive I need to leave fairly early to avoid NY/NJ traffic. Since I’m leaving early no one can go with me because everyone has a day job. Losers! Well at least I got some new tunes to listen to.
I had to go to the post office to send out some ebay stuff today. Apparently the government doesn’t teach their employees how to handle prepaid intenet international postage. Since the women behind the counter didn’t know what to do she took it out on me. What a bitch. I wish I was in Japan because at least they pretend to be nice to you.
I spent a good amount of time on archive.org today. I was able to dig up most of an old diaryland account that was cancelled due to inactivity from 2001. How embarrising. I saved them to my harddrive, maybe I’ll share some of the good entries at a later time just for laughs. I wish had the means to archive my life and by that I wish I had the money to afford a really really big harddrive.
I’ve been working on this entry for a couple of days now.
Ebay has been good to me. I have managed to pay off all my bills with a few hours of work. I am trying to unclutter my life by selling desirable gear, electronics, books, trinkets online. I’m off to a good start, but I have a long way to go. I am toying with the idea of buying an enormous spindle of cds to archive my entire cd collection so I can sell all the originals on half.com or amazon. The CD’s take up too much space and I rarely listen to them now that I have most of the collection on my computer.
A could of days ago I was watching MTV’s “Top 10″ (the new TRL?) with my breakfast and Anna Faris from the Scary Movie series was one of the guests. She was being asked what bands she was into and she responded with something along lines as to how she like “indie rock”. I was assuming she would list bands like My Chemical Romance, Interpol or some crap like that. Instead she said: Broken Social Scene and Feist. Ha! My crush is on her has been reinstated.
So Harris played the semifinals. We brought the rock, the crowd brought the rock too, but not as much as the Rudds according to the judges. All is fair. They were amazing, and they won. I have no qualms. Honestly, I had my money on them. I also had my money on us winning the wildcard…. which we didn’t get. Ohh well. All the bands were great whether you liked them or not. All of Harris will be at the finals to root for Scamper! Jumpkicks will prevail! THE END.
So Harris won the first round of the rumble. The crowd was amazing and we played well, as did all the rest of the bands. Thanks to all that sang along. We will be playing this saturday in the semi-finals with Taxpayer, Eyes Like Knives, and The Rudds. We go on last. Talk about stressfull. In all honesty (not just some dude trying to get you to go to a show), this show is going to be super awesome. All the bands are great. I’ve had the chance to play with Taxpayer and Eyes Like Knives and can say they are great. I have only heard great things about the Rudds from the thenoiseboard.com and they seem to be the favorites, but we’ll see.
I apologize for the lack of updating. I have been catching up with friends, selling a lot of unwanted junk to pay the bills, and cramming in as much practice time for the rumble. I plan on dedicating one day to overhauling the site and sorting through all the pictures from Japan. I plan on tagging them all and even having a day by day synopsis to the best of my memory.
I was waiting for the day to happen and it finally did… My hotmail account got wiped out due to inactivity. While on the road I never checked it and thirty days went by with no login resulting in them deleting all my old mail. For about a year it’s only been my junk mail, but I had lots of old jems from yesteryear. Love letters, bill statement, etc. I had it coming and that’s why I haven’t used it as a primary account for well over a year. Somewhere on one of the numerous harddrives I own there is a backup of my emails from when hotmail used to allow access via outlook express. They stopped doing that and that’s when I lost the urge to check my mail regularly. I despise webbrowser based email.
I saw Regina last night at Axis with Chelsea. She was excellent as usual. She played some new ones, but also pulled out some jems from her older records. We got there early so we could see her onstage. Little girls who play piano should always be put on risers when on stage. Even someone of my height was unable to see her from most parts of the club. We knew enough to get to the side above the crowd where there was a railing so no one could push themselves in front of. The sound was comprimised, but I was getting plenty of her side wedge to make up for it. I hunched down on the railing most of the night so most people could see over me, but most people mumbled things about me being an asshole and being too tall, blah, blah. There were some plumpers behind me that we loud as shit the whole night. One girl was singing all the songs in her crappy, “I was in drama club and love the sound of my own voice and smell of my own farts” (Boy was she rippin em!) Such overexaggerated articulation of every word! She even sang the songs she clearly didn’t know. This wouldn’t have been a problem if say we were at Tweeter Center seeing Radiohead casue c’mon it would be loud as shit and hell, I’d probably be singing along as well. But, this is Axis with a singer behind a keyboard in front of a sold out SILENT crowd. The overall volume was quite low, yet comfortable for a live show. People actually stood quietly and watched and listened. For a second I thought I was back in Japan. There was sooo much respect. Of course I had to get stuck in front of the one fat, farty girl who would rather listen to her own voice than Regina’s. Luckly half way through she left. I think there mom was waiting outside or something.
